Tamora Pierce - Song of the Lioness Quartet
These four books tell the story of Alanna of Trebond, a courageous girl who lives a life of adventure. If you like fantasy books, these stories may be for you! The first book in the quartet is called Alanna, The First Adventure.

Michael Reisman - The Gravity Keeper (Simon Bloom)
This book and its sequel tell the story of 3 friends and their efforts to save the world from the forces of physics - and evil. Read this book for a fun look at the laws of science in a whole new way.

Suzanne Collins - Hunger Games
What is there to say? It is just amazing - 8th grade students read this in English class.


Garth Nix - The Keys to the Kingdom Series

Scott Westerfeld - Uglies
The first book of the trilogy is an amazing opener. These books (Uglies, Pretties, and Specials) are cast in the future and are about the four stages of life: Uglies, New Pretties, Middle Pretties, and Old Pretties. Uglies is about Tally and her decision to either go after her friend, Shay, who ran away to "The Smoke" or never become Pretty. Kathryn Reiss- Sweet Miss Honeywell's Revenge
A great book for people who like scary stories! Tells about a girl and her troubles with a creepy dollhouse causes many problems in her life.



Suzanne Collins- Gregor The Overlander (series)
This series of books follows the journeys of a boy as he falls into a mysterious "Underland", a whole civilization under New York City. Gregor simply plans to escape to the regular world, but once he finds out that he is entangled in a prophecy that could save the Underworld and solve a big mystery in his life, he chooses to stay. His presence changes the Underworld- forever! 7th grade students now have the opportunity to read the first of this series in English.
